Certaldo: City of Culture

In every season of the year, there are many reasons to visit Certaldo, Giovanni
Boccaccio’s city. An extraordinarily intact Medieval village, a real “open air
museum”, composed of streets, alleys and squares. It is entirely built with red bricks
and still surrounded by defence and buttress walls that enclose the castle that
overlooks the valley. There stand tower houses and historical buildings, that today
are seats of museums, and handicraft workshops that carry out pieces of work live.
Moreover, there are contemporary art exhibitions. In fact, throughout the year,
Certaldo hosts permanent and seasonal exhibitions and many cultural and artistic
events. Moreover, the tourist will find handicraft workshops, very charming typical
restaurants, from which it is possible to enjoy the panoramic views of incomparable
beauty of the Tuscanian country.
