Lucca |

Every day, walking down its streets and squares, it is possible to visit Luccas two |
thousand years of history. It is one of the few cities where its fifteenth-seventeenth |
century walls, about 4450 kms long, are still intact. In the well preserved old town |
centre, there are many Medieval churches of remarkably richness, as the Duomo of |
San Martino, the Church of San Michele, and the Church of San Frediano, real |
masterpieces, rich in art works. Lucca preserves many masterworks, as an authentic |
open air museum, with its towers, belfries, Renaissance buildings, with a fine stylistic |
linearity, and its amazing squares, as the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, the Piazza Napoleone, |
and the public park in and around the city walls. But Lucca is also a city with ancient |
gastronomic roots. The landscapes of the Lucchesia, particularly designed and |
coloured by the hill agricultural productions, can be found in the typical lucchesian |
dishes, in endless traditional and innovative variations. The variations in the |
landscape are reflected in the variety of flavours to taste during sumptuous lunches |
and tasty snacks. |
