Florence |
On the river Arno, surrounded by hills planted with olive trees and vineyards, Florence |
is doubtless the most famous and charming cities of Tuscany. It is one of the top |
tourist destinations of the world, thanks to the exceptional beauties of its old town |
centre, rich in monuments and wonderful churches, that can be completely |
appreciated from the surrounding hills, especially from Forte Belvedere, Piazzale |
Michelangelo and the hill of Fiesole, from which it is possible to enjoy one of the most |
fascinating panoramic view of the Arno valley. The most famous building of Florence |
is Palazzo Vecchio that is located in the central square of the city, Piazza della |
Signoria. Nearby there is the Galleria degli Uffizi, one of the most renowned art |
museum of the world. On the left bank of the river Arno, there is the great Palazzo |
Pitti, and behind it the Giardino di Boboli begins. But the architectural jewel of |
Florence is the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, simply known as "il Duomo", with its |
magnificent dome designed by Brunelleschi and the belfry by Giotto. But Florence is |
not only art and culture: the city that during the day offers its artistic marvels, at |
night comes to life, between the lights that brighten the most hidden streets and the |
crowded bars full of young people always trying to have a good time and to meet |
new people. |
